International youth festival of arts “Muzite” (“The Muses”) is a traditional art forum that gathers thousands of competitors from all over the world in Bulgaria.
The festival goes with the support of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is part of the cultural programme of the town of Sozopol and the cultural calendar of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The international youth festival “Muzite”is organized by “Muzite” Association and the Municipality of Sozopol with the generous contribution of the Mayor of the Municipality of Sozopol.
The festival takes place from 5th to 15th July in two five-day sessions, divided in different types of arts. It is an excellent combination of a summer holiday by the sea and active creativity.
The international youth festival of the arts “Muzite” is a multi-genre festival-contest and presents all arts.
The participants in the contest are ensembles and soloists from the schools of arts, academies, art clubs, studios, children and youth centres, children and adolescents aged 5-35.
The contest jury is international – scholars from the Bulgarian Academy of Science and prestigious international universities, acclaimed artists, directors of international festivals, managers of art associations, holders of the Grand Prize in different arts from previous editions of the festival.
Groups and soloists over the age of 35 take part in the non-competitive programme and all the accompanying events.
The unforgettable atmosphere and creative energy of the competitors turned the “Muzite” festival into an emblem of Sozopol and a major cultural event , symbol of friendship and multiculturalism and a stable bridge for sharing traditions and values.
I. GENERAL PRINCIPLES
The trademark of the International Youth Festival of Arts (IYFA) “Muzite” (in English: “The Muses”) is registered at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The founders of the IYFA “Muzite” are the Association “Muzite” (“The Muses”) together with the tour operator “Espace” which execute all tourist services of the festival.
IYFA “Muzite” is a multi-genre festival and contest at different forms of arts: dance, music, theater, fine arts and applied art, non-standard forms, fiction and cinema.
About the Festival:
The International youth festival of arts (IYFA) “Muzite” (in English “The Muses”) a multi-genre youth festival and contest of different forms of arts: dance, music, theater, fine & applied arts and crafts, non-standard forms, fiction and film. The festival hosted close to 2,000 participants from 25th countries and is one of the biggest youth events in Eastern Europe. The Muses festival is organized by the Association “Muzite” in a partnership with the Municipality of Sozopol and it is held annually from 5th to 15th July in the town of Sozopol, Bulgaria.
Sessions and arts:
There are two main sessions:
– 1st Session: 5th to 10th of July. Arts included in the first session: Dance , Non-standard art forms (including but not limited to fire shows, circus arts, martial arts, fashion and more…), Fiction literature and Film
– 2nd Session from 10th to 15th July. Arts included in the second : Music, Fine & Applied arts, Photography” and Theatre.

The theatre of of INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL OF ARTS “MUZITE” (THE MUSES) are held at the theatre stage of the town of Sozopol. (Community Center “Father Paissiy”). It was built in 1978 and offers 400 seats, professional lighting and dressing rooms. The stage has dimensions: width – 14 meters, depth – 9 meters.
The concerts of INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL OF ARTS “MUZITE” (THE MUSES) are held at the summer stage of the town of Sozopol. ( Summer Theatre “Apollonia” ) It was built in 1980 and offers 600 seats, professional lighting and dressing rooms. The stage has dimensions: width – 9.50 meters, depth – 7 meters.
